Seeing nurses, physical therapists, physicians
All in my family gave me dreams of ascension
Soldiers and sailors, sacrificing their lives and saving others
But treated like a stepchild because they were brothers

I go to the movies and see a mirror
Miles swings through trial and error
And whether you prefer legacy or new
You see a hero and know that can be you

That’s a feeling that’ll sting
To be visible yet invisible
Representin’ the indivisible dream
If you succeed, it’s impossible
And when you fail, it’s a meme
But what nobody understands
Everyday for us is Black at Beijing

If you Black at Tokyo, they give you the red light
But ROC at Beijing, heyyy, it’s alright
Still, with a will of steel we fulfill the dream
We are the GOLD that we win for our team
We transcend and transform, with intelligent reaction
Break barriers for the youth like Erin Jackson
And we can see Robinson inspirin’ Marino

When you’re the only black kid in your history class, expect to teach the lesson
So you’re the only black kid in the store, security will follow you and tell a lie
When you’re the only black kid in your history class, the pain will never lessen
So you’re the only black kid in beauty school, and fix your hair with conk and lye

Since I am the only black man in the office, make sure to talk LOUDLY and PROJECT
She’s the only black woman at the concert, all the metal fans whisper and give her stares
Since I am the only black man in the office, is that why they’re mocking my project?
She’s the only black woman at the swim meet, so she quits and takes the stairs.

				Jefferson tried to escape what happened w/ Hemings
				Jackie Robinson endured in and outta the innings
				But light will shine on history’s darker people
				42 on the 2 and the real hero’s winning

				Bass Reeves replaces Andrew Jackson
				Thurgood Marshall on the dollar gains traction
				“If only”, some say like it’s just a dream
				But nothing is gained through lack of action
