Brainwashed

Use free speech to chain us
Shadow of Jim Crow
Christians hail the heinous
Stranger that you know

History’s the tired tale
A myth made law by tyranny
I’ll believe the lie you tell
Because you put the fear in me

You did it in the slave ship
Then, again in the shack
Next, on my way from worship
It’s torture being black

There once was a dumb man named Burns.
His wife, well—she had her concerns.
His girlfriends did envy
His wife who had plenty,
Till one day he gave her the burns.

There once was a woman named Britt.
In London, she sure did not fit.
She would walk with a frown.
She was from County Down.
A Catholic who was not a Brit.

Free, since when?

Free, when the last slave gave his sigh of relief
When that day arrived of the first Juneteenth
When we got the right to vote that we couldn’t use
When black women were no longer abused
By slave owner and son
When the Civil War was won
When we woke up to “woke” being attacked
When all the spineless snakes still backed
The coward who had his henchmen kill Capitol cops
When Sherman set fire to all Confederate crops
When gaslighting got politicians their props
When stop and frisk was all about stops
When this world became a post-racial paradise
When gold is worth less than a bowl of rice.

Might

Without might, you’re faced with peace.
With might, your crimes increase.
With might, crimes are not yours.
Without might, can’t sell your wars.
With might, there is no wrong.
With might, the right are right.
With might, others don’t belong.
With might, you invent white.
Without might, what is your high?
Without might, what is your purpose?
Without might, you might die.
Without might, you might deserve this.
Within might, hides the lie.
Withhold might, you feel worthless.
Withdrawn might is the true power.
