Women in Refrigerators

Did the thwip do it?
Or maybe it was the throw?
No, just bad writing.

After a hard day
Of the super heroics,
You go to your home.

You call your love’s name.
She doesn’t answer; wonder why.
I think I’m hungry.

Let’s open the fridg—
Holy shit! A tired trope,
Stuffed here in my fridge.

Wow, just what I need
To motivate me, the hero.
Thank you, plot device.

No formal training, but still on cue.
Transforming and transcending too.
From fiery red to freezing blue—
She has the range, then aims, and “Pugh!”

She hits her mark each time with ease.
She turns bad roles into good chances.
She’s subtle like early Spring breeze,
Then shifts to swiftness, swapping stances!

Her brilliant mind lights the dark
Third world show you who they are
She’s both princess and Queen of snark
With power from ancestors far…

…She took the mantle once before.
But for her strength, she sought to soar.
The beads that bind all black kin
Are symbols of our pride within.

She exploded on the punk scene
Armed to kill the patriarchy!
Her courage made women feel seen
When mosh pits served to demean.

She spoke strongly and men were scared.
She bucked their little fantasy.
And you could try her if you dared,
But then you’d be the punk, not she.

Those zombies never beat my will,
Although ink ribbons run out quick.
I know I’ll make it if I’m Jill.
She’s the master of the lockpick.

So sorry, Chris, but you’d just die.
You have more health, but not the swag.
Now, Jill’s sandwiches may be wry,
But all her guns are worth the brag.
