PRIDE

The politicians called him Queen
They said he may not march or speak
That his movement makes real men look weak
But he refused to keep it clean

He told us how the flood did fail
Supremacists sure lived their lies
And now there is the time for hell
As family values denied family ties

Cousins killing cousins with hoses
Brothers hanging brothers by trees
His Exodus was not like Moses
They treated his far worse than Lee’s

American—he always accepted
Not from Pride, but shaped forever
He saw that we are all connected
And so his soul will never sever
