There are no songs for the valorous veteran So many sacrificed themselves abroad Those who survived still suffered scars Names unknown and never to laud. Men who got medals in another land But received none from their own Restaurants, hotels, towns had them banned And forget the benefits they were owed. Men who fought in every war While the elite got richer And they stayed poor They died for us—yet we ignore. Women who served and saved lives Denied the right to dine with fellow Officers Mothers, Sisters, Daughters, Wives Their sacrifice still survives.
