There are those that take their time Calm, collected, cool Simple, silent as a mime You know them as The Fool They stay away, averting eyes Their dirty, dusty glasses But it’s a trick—the true surprise That’s how they mock the masses For when it’s dark, they spring to life And discard the façade They save the day and stop the strife The heroes we call “weird” and “odd”

With his body hanging by a thread His head almost decapitated Well, crossing streets is overrated My deer—you were gone too soon You jetted out at night, past noon And the same day we saw you there Bloodied body, broken bare
